Lake & Associates Counselling was started in 1991 and has operated in Vancouver and Saskatoon. Our Logo, a labyrinth, represents the path you must tread to go from where you are to where you want to be.

Lake & Associates creates the opportunity for individuals, couples and groups to explore their innermost fears, anxieties, hopes and dreams. In a supportive environment, opportunities are made available to practice behavioural change. We all want to be happier and in less pain. Steven Lake, MEd (Counselling), PhD (Educational Administration)

Steven has a Master’s in Education degree from the University of Saskatchewan in Counselling Psychology with adult counselling as his primary focus. Steven Lake, MEd (Counselling), PhD (Educational Administration)

Steven has a Master’s in Education degree from the University of Saskatchewan in Counselling Psychology with adult counselling as his primary focus. He is a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psycotherapy Association (#6183) and holds a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation.

Steven has been in private practice for twenty years and worked on a contract basis as a psychotherapist for: Corrections Canada at a maximum security hospital where he worked with individuals and led groups in their Anger Management Program and Sexual Offender Program; PAR Consultants an EAP provider, and with the BC Society of Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse since January 2006.

Steven was a clinical faculty member at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, taught both online and live classes in business management and psychology for the University of Phoenix and currently teaches graduate courses at the Adler School of Professional Psychology.

Steven has had formal training in many psychotherapeutic modalities including: cognitive behavioural, psychodynamic, gestalt, art therapy, psychodrama, emotionally focused therapy, EMDR and EEG biofeedback. The majority of Steven’s work has been with trauma survivors suffering from depression, anxiety and stress disorders. He has worked with bank staff after a robbery, victims of physical abuse and torture, male and female sexual abuse survivors and couples in dysfunctional relationships.

Steven also has a PhD in Educational Administration. In the dissertation he examined the emotional experience of school principals who were managing a death of a student or staff member.

The associates who work for L&A are independent therapists that Steven taps into on an as needed basis. This might include someone who wants a female therapist, when a psychiatric or psychological report is requested, or when therapy involves children.
